Most of my work is project-based — my goal is to uniquely consider a subject in various dimensions, often with some constraint. Time is a regular constraint – seeking to represent the graceful and elegant motion of manta rays over just a few hours, photographing undersea ice structures that are melting in real-time, or the rapid changes in the ocean environment.

After decades spent creating art in the sea – and seeing much change –  I feel time is now moving faster in the ocean. This work feels more imperative and compelling than ever to me.
